I often use Microsoft Word to generate QR codes to be used at work. Would these codes ever expire? Is there a better MS program to use to generate QR codes?

QR codes are nothing more than data embedded into an image (the QR code). As such they have no expiration date themselves. You can use them for years. But since you can encode a lot of different things in the QR code it doesn't mean the data inside it is good forever. That is up to whomever is consuming the data. For example if you encode a URL in the code (pretty common) then it is good for as long as the URL continues to work. If you instead code some coupon code or something temporal in it then the QR code is good forever but the data within it may no longer be valid.
