Outlook and temporary files

I use Outlook in Windows 11 and have a question about it. Every time the program is running, ETL-files are created in a folder called Outlook-logging. The folder is located in temporary files, and about 1200 kilobytes are saved for each time Outlook is opened. Over time, this will become a relatively large amount of bytes that are stored on the hard drive and take up space. Is there anything that can be done to avoid this, or is it an issue that is supposed to be there?

    Hello Trond Gunnar Raa,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Based on your description, you can try disabling Outlook logging. Open Outlook, navigate to "File" - "Options" - "Advanced", scroll down to the "Other" section, uncheck the "Enable troubleshooting logging (need to restart Outlook)" option.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Yanhong Liu

The "Mark Troubleshooting Log" box has never been marked, so this is not what is causing the ETL files to be saved. As mentioned, it happens every time Outlook is opened.

I hace also just seen that it's not just the Outlook logs that contain temporary files, 16 megabytes in size, are also saved in the "Diagnostic" folder every time I check my email. This is quite substantial.
