I connected one of these to Teams but it shows as a SIP device rather than a Teams phone. Which is important because we can not control the firmware version of SIP devices from Teams admin, unless I am missing something, but we can with Teams phones, Panels or Rooms.

Any idea on why it is registering as a SIP device instead of a Teams phone?

According to our research, most likely it's because the Poly CCX 500 was added to the list of devices supported by the Teams SIP Gateway. This could be why your device is registering as a SIP device instead of a Teams phone.

Is there any way to force it to a Teams devices? OR to tell it to grab the latest firmware other than what the provisioning server links to. We have upgraded the firmware but every time we connect it to our tenant it downgrades itself, so I am assuming the provisioning server is points it to a firmware location with old firmware.

Is there any way to force it to Teams instead of SIP? Or is there anyway to update the firmware within our Teams tenant? When we upgrade the firmware of the phone all is ok, until we connect it to our tenant. Once it gets provisioned, it then downgrades its firmware. I assume this is because the provisioning server points it to a url with older firmware at MS.
