Unexpected error on server associating the workflow

I have been getting this error for 2 weeks now. I couldn't find any fix from Microsoft forums, nor any search results. My Org's IT has no idea too.

I had to rebuild the same SharePoint list 5 times now.

Any help is appreciated.

It seems this is not a common issue per my test. However, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation. So, Please kindly provide more information below to let us work further.

What version of sharepoint are you using and is it SharePoint designer 2013 or 2010?

As suggested in the SharePoint designer 2013 error Unexpected error on server associating the workflow try the following:

Delete all folders in the following directory in local: C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SharePoint Designer\ProxyAssemblyCache\
Delete the files in all folders in this directory in local: C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WebsiteCache\ don’t delete the folders, just delete the contents of the folders
If the issue is is not fixed still, try to Uninstall and install SharePoint Designer 2013 again.

Thanks for the response Haoyan. It was 2013. And I was trying to build Email workflow.

All the steps mentioned above were performed multiple times before, but they didn't work.

I tried to remember what was the changes in my laptop since I had working SharePoint Designer before. It was switch to M365.

I had built the list again with one field at a time and built the Email workflow simultaneously one field a time to see if any specific field type was giving an error.

But couldn't narrow down the cause, however, while I was building the workflow one field a time and workflow worked after 10th Publish.

Issue seems to be resolved for now, but worried about future workflows.

Hello Haoyan,

As this answer was already available on the forum, but unfortunately didn't work for me.
Even yesterday, I had to make a change to my workflow and had to publish 10+ attempts to be successful. Since the root cause is unknown, I am afraid, I can't endorse this answer. Apologies
