Cannot enable SMB1 / CIFS Client

I am not able to enable SMB /CIFS from the "Turn Windows features on or off" : I am allowed to click on the checkbox (upper level), but then get the error message 0x80073701.

I did try the suggestion as described in the link above (disabling SMB1 and SMB2 in the registry, restart, re-enabling), but this does not work for me.

I am aware of the danger of SMB 1; in this case, the computer is not directly connected to the internet, and the reason I need SMB/CIFS activated is so that our synology can mount cifs share within the internal network.

Our version of windows is Microsoft Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC

Thanks for your help!

    Hello,

There might be an issue with the Windows Modules Installer service or a problem with the files required for enabling the feature.

Try re-register Windows Modules Installer Service: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/archive/technet-wiki/51993.windows-10-troubleshooting-the-windows-installer-service-could-not-be-accessed
