We, as a SaaS provider, have been developing and providing various models of Azure OpenAI Service in the East Japan Region for our customers in Japan.

Now, we are in the process of deploying "gpt-4 vision-preview" in the East Japan region, and noticed that the model depreciation date was March 31, 2024.

Though I understand the official documentation does not specifically mention the depreciation of the model "gpt-4 vision-preview", is it correct to assume that "gpt-4 vision-preview" will not be available in the East Japan region after April 1, 2024?

Since this is a very sensitive matter for us to provide to our customers this model, so we would be grateful if you could tell us what the situation is.

Thanks,

Shoko Yoshioka / 吉岡 翔子 Greetings & Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum!

Though I understand the official documentation does not specifically mention the depreciation of the model "gpt-4 vision-preview", is it correct to assume that "gpt-4 vision-preview" will not be available in the East Japan region after April 1, 2024?

Please note that, Azure OpenAI Service models are continually refreshed with newer and more capable models. As part of this process, we deprecate and retire older models.

As Charlie mentioned, you will be able to upgrade to a stable version with a date to be announced.

We also recommend to update your applications to use the new models and versions before the retirement date.

For more information, see How to upgrade to a new model or version.

Regarding your question on Japan East Region, Model availability varies by region. Please see GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo Preview model availability

You will be notified about the retirements along with the new models.

I would suggest you keep an eye on Azure OpenAI Service model deprecations and retirements for more details.

I hope this helps. Do let me know if you have any further queries.

Hello Shoko Yoshioka / 吉岡 翔子,

I believe the most accurate information currently available is based on the Model Retirements document, which was just released last week.

Regarding the gpt-4-vision-preview you mentioned, we should wait for the next stable version to be released.

    Best regards,
    Charlie
