Azure VNG dynamic public IP DNS resolves to 255.255.255.255

I have a dynamic public IP in Azure assigned to my VNG (Basic SKU, so dynamic is required). On the configuration page for the PIP, I've added a DNS name label. However, when I resolve that FQDN, it comes back with 255.255.255.255. Any idea what's going on?
