Good Afternoon,
I have been reading every forums post I can find in regards to this and it seems like none of them give a straight answer. I have 15 Windows 10 Pro workstations that were upgraded from Windows 7 Pro. They are all currently Windows 10 2004. I am purchasing 15 replacement computers from Dell that will have Windows 10 home installed on them. All of the workstations are showing "Activated with digital license" and they are all showing as Retail. I do not have a product key for any of the upgraded boxes. I have read multiple articles, posts, forums, etc. that state in order to transfer this license you need to deactivate it on the old box and reactivate on the new to upgrade home to pro using a "PRODUCT KEY" which I do not have (Unless this is referring to the Windows 7 Pro Product Keys). I also read that you can go to the old box and link it to your Microsoft Account and then activate and deactivate in this way however they all state once again that you must have a "PRODUCT KEY". I am just looking for any information on the straight forward answer on how this is accomplished or if it can be accomplished. Any and all information would be humbly and gratefully appreciated. Happy Friday everybody!!

    Hello,

I don't see much (if any) possibility that you will be able to convert new PC's from HOME to PRO just because you have older PC's with Win 7 Pro that were upgraded to 10 Pro, especially if they were OEM.

My suggestion is to buy the new PC's with Windows 10 PRO already installed and save yourself a lot of headache, time and aggravation not just now, but down the line.. IMHO

Reinstalling to the same boxes should work since the hardware fingerprint would match. Moving to new hardware likely means buying new licenses.

Legal licensing questions are better directed towards your reseller's trained licensing specialist or ask microsoft directly. Any anonymous forums replies (including my own) are opinions at best and in no way legally binding.

    In MICROSOFT SOFTWARE LICENSE TERMS
"If you acquired the software preinstalled on a device (and also if you upgraded from software preinstalled on a device), you may transfer the license to use the software directly to another user, only with the licensed device. The transfer must include the software and, if provided with the device, an authentic Windows label including the product key. Before any permitted transfer, the other party must agree that this agreement applies to the transfer and use of the software."

So, if your Windows 10 Pro Wrokstation were "upgraded from Windows 7 Pro", you cannnot transfer the licence to another device.

    Hi @DBACK Admin

If you wanna get the Product Keys from old machines, open a Command Prompt (admin) and type:

    wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
