Is there a reason why my recent files would be missing in excel?

Hello. There is a user that I work with and when they open Excel, they don't see any documents recently opened in the "Open" tab. The screenshot below is what is normally shown but it's no longer there. I've checked the display settings and nothing has been changed. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks. Screenshot (272)

    There are multiple forums out there having the same issue with both Excel and Word. Some think it was the installation of the One Drive app on March 20th.

    The online Microsoft help is clueless. People have been rebooting, uninstalling the One Drive app, and scanning for viruses, etc. THE OFFICE REPAIR doesn't work, but online and the quick repair.
