Is there a known issue with MS To Do inside Outlook hanging on links in tasks created from OneNote?

When creating an Outlook task in OneNote, the task appears in MS To Do with a link to the OneNote item. Clicking the link in the To Do app takes me to the item in OneNote, but if I do this from inside Outlook (with MS To Do set as the default task manager), the screen goes grey and no further action is possible in the To Do section. The only way to remove the lock is by stopping and restarting Outlook. Is this a known issue? If yes, is there a way to solve it, or does it require a bug fix in the software?

There is 2 ways to used MS To Do. 1st. via de (web?) app. this works fine but has one big disadvantage: if a todo item is a flagged e-mail, from inside the todo item it opens the web version of outlook, not the desktop version which is not very effective and time consuming as I mostly use the desktop version of outlook. Recently the option has been added to add To Do on the side menu bar of Outlook and replace tasks as the default task manager. this way also shows todo mostly in the same way as the app but when opening a flagged e-mail from the todo item, it opens the mail in the desktop app. it feels as if this second option, being a new option, has been slightly less developed and has some glitches like the one I reported. I also noticed that creation of new list has some limitations while that works in the webapp. I hope this clarifies. if not let me know and I can send a screenshot

Here is a step by step of what I observe in the outlook client:

is a pre-requisite: create an outlook task from anywhere in OneNote:

In the outlook client click on To Do in the left pane

open the task that was created from OneNote

click on the link right below

the entire screen turns grey and the only way to get out is by closing outlook an restarting it:

Based on my test, i can reproduce your case. In order to further confirm if the issue is related to Microsoft To Do, i have tried to open the task in Task tab in Outlook and i found it can be opened successfully in Onenote. So i'm afraid that the issue is related to Microsoft To Do. Please kindly understand that the Outlook tag here we mainly focus on general issues about Outlook desktop client. It's suggested that you could post your case in dedicated forum for Microsoft To Do for more professional advice.

If you want to open Onenote task in Outlook, it's suggested that you could click the apps icon and add task to access your tasks.

thanks for confirming that yo could reproduce the issue and for the workaround to use Tasks. I will also report to the dedicated To Do forum. I just hope they will not point me back to the outlook forum as it also works fine when using the To Do App outside Outlook so it feels this is more of an integration defect between To Do and Outlook than a pure To Do issue. I hope you Guys talk to each other as you are one company and I am a Microsoft customer, not a To Do or an Outlook customer, correct?
