Microsoft licensing on top VMWare ESXi

Question

Hi All,

I currently have an HP server installed with VMware ESXi. On top of ESXi, I have 6 Windows Server 2019 VMs installed and operational. However, I’m being charged monthly for 66 cores, and I’m unsure if this is the correct licensing arrangement. I find it difficult to understand clearly which licenses I should be using for this setup. I tried to understand: Windows Server Core Licensing Calculator | Hewlett Packard Enterprise (hpe.com)

But with no success, it’s not clear for me if I need buy MS Server license for each VM, or that I need to buy one license for the hardware, and in that case from where I will get the activation key ?

Any guidance or clarification on the licensing requirements would be greatly appreciated.
