I have exchange 2019 I'm using outlook 2019 client, why groups which I'm part are not listed in the outlook and OWA ?
I'm trying to add profile photo for the distribution group to which I'm the Owner, I want to find solution for this.

Hi Nandan NK,

According to your problem description, I suggest you can follow the following steps for troubleshooting:

Ensure that Cached Exchange Mode is enabled in the Outlook client. If it is disabled, try enabling it and restarting Outlook.

Sometimes, a corrupt configuration file can cause problems. You can create a new profile in Outlook and configure it with an account that can view groups. Check if the groups are shown in the new profile.

If you are in a mixed environment (a mix of local Exchange and Exchange Online), make sure you synchronize the group settings correctly. Sometimes, by default, groups created through Microsoft Teams may not show up in Outlook.

I have tried with cache mode as well creating new profile, this is not the issue created now, we are using exchange on Prem setup, I never see groups menu in my outlook. I can find them in address list and contacts, also see if you can help me in setting up profile photo for groups this is the main request here.

Hi, I apologize for misinterpreting your needs before, I wanted to ask if you want to add a profile picture to the distribution group you created? If yes, I'm sorry, Exchange 2019 does not support setting a profile photo for a distribution group directly, as this feature is primarily designed for Office 365 groups.

There are alternatives that can be considered as solutions: in case of a local communication group, you can create a contact within the Outlook client and assign a photo to it. This contact can have the same email address as the communication group so that this photo will be displayed when sending or receiving emails in Outlook.

However, this approach may not be ideal, and if this is an enterprise-level requirement, consider contacting Microsoft support or seeking professional Exchange consulting to explore whether there is a viable enterprise-level solution.

Can you provide some documentation or evidence from Microsoft confirming Exchange 2019 does not support setting a profile photo for a distribution group? that will really help us.

I believe those are the properties that can be modified from EAC but I'm looking for the evidence to confirm that profile picture can't be modify from outlook as well!, can you share if you have any evidence for this.

Hello@Nandan NK, it is not possible to change the photo and profile of a distribution group in Outlook, I apologize that I did not find a document describing this, but I have tested it and confirmed that it is not possible to add the information you need.
