How do I fix an error installing a WSL Ubuntu distribution?

I was following the tutorial: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wsl/install-manual .

I got to step 6, but got the error:
"RegisterDistribution failed with error: 0x80070002

Error: 0x80070002 The system cannot find the file specified." on the virtual Ubuntu terminal.

Did I miss something in that tutorial?
I'm on Windows 10 Education (Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.4170))

    Hi Verner Mednis,

    Thank you for posting.

Do you have VMWare workstation installed on your computer? If yes, reinstalling it may fix the issue.

Also see if WSL1 works for you.

    Best Regards,
