Hi guys,

When viewing one of our company's sites on Microsoft Edge, a big red screen saying that "This site has been reported as unsafe" appears.

Underneath it says: "Microsoft recommends you don't continue to this site. It has been reported to Microsoft for containing phishing threats which may try to steal personal or financial information."

I've tried reporting it as safe as a representative of the site 20 days ago, but nothing has happened even after following up every day. All I was sent was this auto-reply by Microsoft:

"Subject: [Ticket - 1 - 518fa6f2-bd6f-4b5e-8be7-78b220a9a0a4]

This email has been sent from an external source

Thank you for contacting us about [my website] We have received the information you provided and are currently reviewing it.  If it is determined that the current designation is incorrect or no longer accurate the warning will be removed. We typically expect to take 24 hours for our investigation.  During the investigation, you may not see changes to the status of your site.  If the status of your site has not changed after 24 hours, please contact us with a reply to this message.  Please do not change the subject when replying.

I have followed up almost every day and have still heard nothing.

This has been very damaging as we have thousands of daily users and this seems to have started spreading to other blacklist sites. All our site is is a login screen for our Salesforce portal, and is hosted using Salesforce's servers. We don't have any phishing threats or anything like that. This is a completely incorrect reading of our site.

Is there anything we can do to have our site removed?

    Hi @Blake Smith

I think there's a "More information" option on the red screen. You can click that option to check if there's any specific information about why the website is reported unsafe.

Besides reporting, you can also refer to this FAQ If I am a website owner, what can I do to help minimize the chance of my website being flagged by Microsoft Defender SmartScreen? to check your website:

There are several things you can do that can help minimize the chance of your site being flagged as suspicious. Think of these as best practices or optimal website design ethics.

    • If you ask users for personal information, use HTTPS with a valid, unexpired server certificate issued by a trusted certification authority.
    • Make sure that your webpage doesn't expose any cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities. Protect your site by using anti-cross-site scripting functions such as those provided by the Microsoft Anti-Cross Site Scripting library.
    • Use the fully-qualified domain name rather than an IP-literal address. (This means a URL should look like "microsoft.com" and not "207.46.19.30.")
    • Don't encode or tunnel your URLs unnecessarily. If you don't know what this means, you probably aren't doing it.
    • If you post external or third-party hosted content, make sure that the content is secure and from a known and trusted source.
