We had employee returning and we re-created AD account. After that we have been experiencing issues with Sharepoint Online access. There seems to be left "ghost" account in the Sharepoint that is giving problems. I can´t however find duplicate accounts from Sharepoint. How to troubleshoot? This person gets notifications that she has been granted access to sites, but still can´t access. The old account is interfering somehow.

    Hi @SauPom ,

Thank you for posting in this community.

When a user is deleted and re-created with the same name, it can lead to issues. The new account have a different UPN value, causing conflicts. Even if a new account is created using the same UPN, the new account will be assigned a new ID value. After you delete a user, the account remains in a suspended state for 30 days. During that 30-day window, the user account can be restored, along with all its properties. After that 30-day window passes, the permanent deletion process is automatically started and can't be stopped. Neither you nor Microsoft customer support can restore a permanently deleted user.

If there’s a mismatched ID or you want to link the new UPN to the old OneDrive, create a support ticket through Microsoft 365 admin. Support engineers can assist further.

(Microsoft 365 admin center ->> Support ->> Help & support)
