Can ASR and Azure Migrate Coexist?

Is it possible to have ASR enabled on an on-prem system AND migrate it to Azure at the same time? Ex. Imagine a company is running VMware, and they have ASR (on-prem to Azure) enabled to DR protect some of their VMs. Can you still migrate the VMs while ASR is in place, or would you need to stop ASR in order to do the migration?

Short answer: No! Not recommended

Azure Site Recovery (ASR) is primarily used for disaster recovery scenarios, but it can also be used for migration scenarios. ASR provides continuous replication of on-premises workloads to Azure, which can be used to migrate the workloads to Azure with minimal downtime.

Azure Migrate, on the other hand, is a service that provides a centralized hub for discovery, assessment, and migration of on-premises workloads to Azure. Azure Migrate provides a range of tools and services to help you assess your on-premises workloads and migrate them to Azure.

It's important to note that ASR and Azure Migrate have different capabilities and are designed for different scenarios. ASR is primarily designed for disaster recovery scenarios, while Azure Migrate is designed for migration scenarios. Therefore, you should choose the service that best meets your specific requirements and use cases.

You'd need to stop ASR. They both are using the same technology under the covers - which would result in conflicts. It's one or the other.
