Can university students use Word for free? My university did not provide e-mail extensions. Can you help me if I send my student ID card?

It is free only if your school has signed up for the program with Microsoft AFAIK. You cannot sign up for them. If they are signed up then all you need to do is go to the sign up page. Most schools are so this shouldn't be an issue. Just go to the site and enter your email address from the school. If you aren't eligible then it'll tell you.

I'm not aware of any school that doesn't provide email addresses for students so it would be odd that you wouldn't have one. How do you get emails from the school without it? They wouldn't use your personal email address as that could violate privacy laws, at least in the US. I would recommend you contact your school and get this information from them. Their technical support team should be able to help with this.

A student ID is not a verifiable document. It is trivial to create one that looks official, there are sites online that can do it for you. By providing an email tied to a school it is easy to verify the email address is valid and because it is tied to a school domain it is more verifiable then other approaches.

If for some reason you are not eligible for Office then you can still purchase the student version. But you'll still need a verifiable email address from an educational institution. Again, contact your school for this information.
