I have updated Windows 10 Pro from version 2004 to 20H2 OS Build 19042.630, and after this update my credentials are gone -> browser, outlook, onedrive, network.. everything.

After each restart everything resets - no credentials found at ALL. I need to fill them again. THIS is huuuge pain, can't find anything for help.

Is this new BUG on 20H2 ??? Any solutions/workarounds?

    Hi,

Thank you for coming Microsoft Q&A.

Does the issue occur after upgrade? Or does the issue occur after you configured certificate and restart in Windows 10 20H2, and it will repeat appear during every restart?

There is a known issue which published in your system version build package November 10, 2020—KB4586781 (OS Builds 19041.630 and 19042.630) about certificate will removed after upgraded in a specific scenario.

System and user certificates might be lost when updating a device from Windows 10, version 1809 or later to a later version of Windows 10. Devices will only be impacted if they have already installed any Latest cumulative update (LCU) released September 16, 2020 or later and then proceed to update to a later version of Windows 10 from media or an installation source which does not have an LCU released October 13, 2020 or later integrated. This primarily happens when managed devices are updated using outdated bundles or media through an update management tool such as Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. This might also happen when using outdated physical media or ISO images that do not have the latest updates integrated.
Note Devices using Windows Update for Business or that connect directly to Windows Update are not impacted. Any device connecting to Windows Update should always receive the latest versions of the feature update, including the latest LCU, without any extra steps.

We recommend to try the workaround steps in that link to rollback to previous system version and check if certificate will back to device.
To make sure you have enough time to perform action, we need to use DISM /Online /Set-OSUninstallWindow /Value:<days> command to extended available rollback time. The default time is 10 days. If you have not set the time, after 10 days, it is not able to rollback.

Here is a similar thread with your issue.

    Hello,

Sorry for late respond. A lot of work due covid-19. Each day I'm entering passwords everywhere I'm asked. I have updated windows via "Windows Update". Around 2-4 weeks interval I'm manually pressing check for updates and install them. So I had every windows 10 update from 2016 years. I'm just loving to be up-to-date.

    What I tried:

I tried Microsoft Office 2007 repair, but did not helped. Each time I need to fill password for Outlook 2007 after computer shutdown.
I have created new windows10 user and made restart. Returned to my main user, also did not helped.

Sometimes doing computer restart outlook credentials are saved, but not sure why/how, but it does not ask me to fill again and works. But if I make Shutdown credentials are gone.
My Google chrome sometimes saves credentials, and after shutdown sometimes they are gone. Also not sure why/how.
Credentials are gone for Network computers with shared folders, but after creating new user seems they are saved and no longer resets after restart/shutdown or at least they don't prompt me to enter user/password.

What does roll-back system do? Its only Windows files will go back to some version or there will be consequences with "my documents" folders and etc?

    Hi,

According to your 1 day ago reply, it seem that it is not same with that known issue on Windows 10 which I referred in my first reply.

As you said the issue not occur with other user account, so I would recommend to check if credential manager will be reset after restart computer in corrupted user account. We could search for "credential manager" in search box.

If yes, try to download process monitor tool, then monitor boot process and filter if any related information there.

As Windows.old file will be deleted in 10 days by default, so if it has been deleted, it is not available to roll back any more.

    Bests,

Created new user and everything works normal. If I get back to an old user - credentials resets every time. As I told it happened only after updating windows from 2004 to 20H build. Today I see there are new updates, I will try install them later. Is there anyway to fix old user? Or how can I find a problem which causes this resets?
