Update Power BI using SCCM

Hello,

Recently our clients started to use Power BI, but how i now that Power BI is getting updates each month.

So how could i update or turn on auto-update of Power BI?

I figured out that i could do that in 2 ways:

  1. Deploy Power BI using SCCM (create application and deploy to collection) each month creating new app and be up to date;
  2. Use MS store with SCCM. But to do that i need to https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/apps/deploy-use/manage-apps-from-the-windows-store-for-business enable this option.

And if it's really possibly to deploy, or update Power BI by using SCCM 40072-image.png

And what i really need for this? From MS info i need:

  1. Azure AD;
  2. GA Account;
Microsoft Configuration Manager

    For managing the store updates using ConfigMgr, you would need Azure AD, Microsoft store for business https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-store/sign-up-microsoft-store-for-business and then integrate the store for business with ConfigMgr https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/apps/deploy-use/manage-apps-from-the-windows-store-for-business.
    OR
    you can use 3rd party products (licensed) such as patchmypc who provide the updates for 300+ products including the power BI.
    OR
    you can download the latest application every time, create an application, deploy to devices.

    As the Power BI desktop is deployed by SCCM, once new desktop version is available, you need to deploy it again via SCCM. If you don't deploy, the end user keep running the old desktop version.

    Hi @ESWARARAJU KONETI , So I deployed Power BI through intune for my organization. Tricky part is that we had to disable MS store as people were downloading thing we didn't want them to download. So now there a new Power BI update and I want to deploy. So questions is do I need to write an uninstall CMD code to uninstall the previous version then deploy the new version or if I deploy the new version in intune then will it just install the updated version with no hustles?
