Hello,

I have two disks in raid one field, but since the space is still small, I replaced them with new ones, currently 2 TB, but now I cannot increase the space, the capacity in raid 1 field remains 1 TB, which is small. I would like to know if I should recreate the raid 1 field and if I will lose the data on the disk that is at the time of creation, or how would it be done the fastest and most elegantly?

A picture of how it looks on the server?

Thank you in advance

Best regards

    Hi A S,

Thanks for your post. Based on my research, it is necessary to back up the data because the original data will be lost due to the replacement. Here are my recommended steps to expand disks.

    (1) Do a backup of the current disks and verified that the backup is good (2) Delete the shares on the RAID 1 pair (3) Use Frontpanel/Volume menu to (virtuelly) remove one disk from the RAID 1 pair.

    (4) Delete the volume(s) on the remaining disk => the "add volume" tap will appear and the two 500GB disks in slots as disks which are available to create a new volume. (5) Shut down the NV+. (6) Physically remove the disks in slots. (7) Insert the new disks in slots. (8) Use Frontpanel/Volume menu to create a new RAID 1 volume on the disks. (9) Restart NV+ to create volume and synchronize disks. (10) Recreate shares on the new volume. (11) Restore contents of the recreated shares from the backup.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Xue
