To solve the detection error during the installation of KB5002562 for SharePoint Server, you can try the following steps:

    1. Stop all affected services and close all applications that may use the affected files prior to installing the security update. This may help reduce the chance that a restart will be required.
    2. Make sure that Windows Installer 3.1 or later version is installed on the system. If not, install it from one of the Microsoft websites provided in the context.
    3. If the error persists, try installing the update using the command line parameters provided in the context for the specific version of SharePoint Server you are using.
    4. If none of the above steps work, you can try uninstalling and then reinstalling the SharePoint Server and then applying the security update.

    Hi @Herbert L. Seward III ,

There are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

    1. Check Windows Installer Cache Files: This error often occurs when the Windows Installer cache files (located at C:\Windows\Installer) are missing or corrupted. Please follow these articles to restore: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/installing-updates-features-roles/missing-windows-installer-cache https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/sql/database-engine/install/windows/restore-missing-windows-installer-cache-files
    2. Redownload the Patch Files: Sometimes downloaded patch files can become corrupted. Try downloading the patch again to ensure the integrity of the files.
    3. Check the c:\windows\installer Folder: Navigate to C:\Windows\Installer on the affected server. Verify if this folder is corrupted or contains missing files. If needed, copy the C:\Windows\Installer folder from another working SharePoint server to a local C:\Temp folder on the problematic server. Remember to back up any critical data before making changes.

Hopefully, these steps will help you resolve the detection error and successfully install the security patch!
