how to fix broken bookmark in restricted word document?

Bookmark works fine when I stop protection. When I turn on restrict editing, the bookmark will not work. Using desktop O365 Word.

Hello Jiajing,

The options set for Restrict Editing are

There are no Formatting Restrictions or Exceptions. I am not proficient in VBA so scripting a solution will not work.

"the bookmark will not work" What does that mean? What action are you expecting, how are you using the bookmark?

Besides, in what scenarios do you use bookmarks in Word?

I test on my environment with Microsoft 365 Apps, the links to bookmarks work after enabling restrict editing.

@John Korchok I am using two bookmark links in the document placed at the beginning of the document and again at the end of the document. The bookmarks take the user from the beginning of the form to the last page of the form for user directions and back again. The bookmarks work seamlessly without protection applied. Once applied though, only the bookmark on the last page works. It will return user to the first page. The bookmark on the first page will not take the user to the last page.

@Jiajing Hua-MFST thanks for the help. I was not able to resolve using the workaround you provided. Not that it could not work as much as VBA is beyond my skillset.
