Hi, I'm looking for a 32GB VM with DDR5 (very important for me) and NVME. I cannot (don't know how to) find those details in the VM descriptions. Would appreciate any help.

    Hi @KruminsM

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A platform.

I can help you find a virtual machine (VM) in Azure that meets your requirements.

Unfortunately, DDR5 memory is not currently available in Azure VMs. The latest generation of memory available in Azure VMs is DDR4. However, there are several VM sizes available in Azure that offer 32GB of memory and NVMe storage.

Here are some VM sizes that meet your requirements:

Standard_D4s_v3: This VM size offers 4 vCPUs, 32GB of memory, and 32GB of NVMe temporary storage.

Standard_E4s_v4: This VM size offers 4 vCPUs, 32GB of memory, and 64GB of NVMe temporary storage.

Standard_E8s_v4: This VM size offers 8 vCPUs, 32GB of memory, and 128GB of NVMe temporary storage.

You can find more information about these VM sizes, including pricing and availability, on the Azure VM sizes page: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/virtual-machines/series/

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Hei @KruminsM ,

    Thanks for contacting Microsoft Community.

I understand that by searching for the VM with DDR5 etc, you are trying to mae sure that the VM delivers certain performance benchmarks.

There is no direct way to identify the generation of the memory used by the virtual machine as the core and memory used by memory are "virtualized" jut like the VM.

The actual memory version is for the data-center rack hosting the Virtual Machine, everything in the virtual machine is emulated. The only documentation that mentions emulating DDR5 types is for High performance clusters, they have a specific purpose but if you want to try.

Read about it here: Run high-performance computing (HPC) applications on Azure

This brings us to the purpose of the Virtual Machine, the purpose will guide you to select the appropriate VM that will give you the needed disk and memory performance.

Each generation of Virtual machine has a dedicated page listing the capabilities of the memory, processor and the disk, at times the network too.

Read about it here: Sizes for virtual machines in Azure

I would suggest that you define the parameters or the performance benchmarks you expect from the machine and then choose one from the series available.

Please mark this as answer in it helped
