I can't find a solution to a basic server 2016 problem.

Hello, for two weeks there has been a small detail that has been annoying my colleagues in the organization.

It means that when letters are received from an external sender, after reading the message the icon of the message changes (open envelope, we work on local computers with Outlook 2010). But with internal correspondence, the icon does not change (the letter remains closed). This causes great confusion among my colleagues.

If you have any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

First of all, I would like to explain that Outlook 2010 is no longer supported, and Microsoft will no longer update it and fix errors.

Then, based on your problem description, I have a few questions that I would like to confirm with you:

1.Do you have other supported versions? Is the server 2016 mentioned in your title Exchange 2016 or Outlook 2016? If there is only Outlook 2010, it is recommended that you download a version that is still supported.

2.Did you mean that the status of the icon after your colleague reads an email from an internal sender is the same as the following screenshot?

3.Have your colleagues previously set up relevant rules so that emails received from internal senders will not change the read status of the emails? If so, it is recommended to turn off all rules and see if the problem can be solved.

4.Does this problem still exist in OWA? Does this problem exist for individual users or most users?

5.Are there multiple devices logged in at the same time? Sometimes, logging in from multiple devices at the same time may cause such problems.
