Sometimes, third-party software can interfere with keyboard shortcuts. In this case, I shall suggest you, go for a Clean Boot.

A glitch in Windows Explorer can sometimes cause shortcut issues. Try restarting it.

Try a different USB port or a keyboard if possible.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, consider creating a new user profile.

    Hello there,

If your Ctrl shortcuts have suddenly stopped working on Windows 10, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue. Let’s go through some potential solutions:

    1.     Check if Keyboard Hardware is Working:

    ·        First, ensure that your keyboard is functioning correctly. Try plugging it into a different USB port or using a different keyboard with your PC to verify if the issue persists.

    ·        If other keyboards work fine, the problem might be with your original keyboard. Clean it to remove any dirt or debris, or consider replacing it if necessary.

    2.     Restart Your PC:

    ·        Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve issues related to keyboard shortcuts. Click on the Windows icon in the bottom bar, then select the Power icon and choose “Restart.”

    3.     Run the Keyboard Troubleshooter:

    ·        Windows includes built-in troubleshooting tools. To run the keyboard troubleshooter:

    ·        On Windows 11, open the Settings app, navigate to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters, and click on the Keyboard option to run the troubleshooter.

    ·        On Windows 10, open the Settings app, go to Update & security > Additional troubleshooters, and run the Keyboard Troubleshooter.

    ·        Follow the instructions provided by the troubleshooter.

    4.     Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers:

    ·        Outdated or corrupted keyboard drivers can cause issues. Update your keyboard drivers through Device Manager or reinstall them if necessary.

    5.     Update to the Latest Windows Version:

    ·        Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, updates include fixes for keyboard-related problems.

    6.     Disable Special Keyboard Modes:

    ·        Some keyboards have special modes (such as gaming mode) that can affect shortcuts. Check your keyboard settings and disable any special modes.

    7.     Turn Off Sticky Keys:

    ·        Sticky Keys can interfere with keyboard shortcuts. Disable them by going to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard and turning off Sticky Keys.

    8.     Reset Keyboard Settings:

    ·        Resetting keyboard settings to default can help. Go to Settings > Devices > Typing > Advanced keyboard settings and click on Reset.

    9.     Disable NoWinKeys from Registry Editor:

    ·        If you’ve modified registry settings related to the Windows key (WinKey), revert those changes.

    10.  Turn on Shortcuts from Group Policy Editor:

    ·        Use the Group Policy Editor to ensure that shortcuts are enabled. Search for gpedit.msc, navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > File Explorer, and enable Turn off Windows Key hotkeys.

Remember to test your keyboard shortcuts after each step to check if the issue is resolved. Hopefully, one of these solutions will get your Ctrl shortcuts working again!

    Hello,

Based on your description, here are some factors that may cause this:

    a. For some shortcut key settings that come with the operating system, you can try changing them in "Control Panel" -> "Keyboard".

    b. Some input method software will occupy some key positions. You can try to temporarily switch to English input state, or close the input method software.

    c. Some special keyboard or mouse drivers may cause this situation. You can try to uninstall or update the corresponding driver.

    Best Regards,

    Yanhong Liu
