CustomDomainInUse error on deploying a resource

Hello, I created my first Azure ai service resource today, and deleted it afterwards.

Now I wanted to create it once again but it didn't let me, the deployment has InternalError with following message:

        "code": "CustomDomainInUse",
        "message": "Sub domain name 'aiservicesazuresandbox00001' is already in use. This condition is caused by sub domain name being taken at the same time."
    }
}

I saw that in Manage deleted resources I do not have this service to be restored or purged. Also I was trying the same with other Resource groups, different sub domain names incl. gibberish, so that to make sure I don't have a duplicate, and also other services, such as Face - all are giving me the same InternalServerError.

What can I do?

We have got a couple of customers who have reported the same issue today. I have shared this issue details with the Product Owners. They are looking into this. I will keep you posted once I hear from them.

That is a good question and thanks for using QandA platform

A custom subdomain name is unique to your resource. The name can only include alphanumeric characters and the - character; it must be between 2 and 64 characters in length and cannot end with a -****.

Make sure if the name includes an underscore character ("_"), if it does you will get the same error, just try using numbers and letters alone.

Same error here! It has nothing to do with the subdomain provided (I've created 100% sure unique ones)...

Hey Azar, as you see in the inline code in my example I used only alphanumerics and still got error. I also played with many different combinations for the subdomain name, all of them alphanumeric, and none of them worked. I think some obstacle must have appeared in my service deployment ability in general, but I am unable to find it

We are getting the same error today trying to deploy an Azure AI Studio - our resource names are clean in terms of not having any special characters in it's name. We have tried this twice with the same message each time.

edit; we also note that creating "azure ai services" on it's own singularly, rather than as part of a "Azure ai studio" deployment we get the exact same message regardless of the name of the resource.

Our internal Product group team is working on this on priority. I will keep you posted.

I'm fairly sure it's a glitch. I've tried 16-char randomly generated hex numbers as subdomain names and still get this warning so I doubt these names are already in use.

@navba-MSFT Yes, one of the previous deployments (that I think I have cancelled) must have created a resource, because when I entered the resource group, it is there.
I now have some issues in Vision Studio modules though using this resource:

but I hope they are also temporary?

Hi team!

Same problem here, with deploying an Azure AI Translator Service:

We are sure the name is not in use, as with the previous comments. Also, deleting and retrying the deployment did not work; it just took the F0 free tier account on the undeployed service and glitched it. Please provide some ETA for fixing this problem.

Update about RCA

What happened?

Between 3-14-2023 18:09 UTC and 3-14-2023 19:25 UTC Customers might experience the creation of new Open AI resources getting stuck in a processing or failing state.

What went wrong and why?

The system experienced a DNS registration issue that prevented new resources from being registered correctly during the creation process. Existing resources were not impacted.

How did we respond?

We have worked with our networking team to address this issue and all customers are now able to create resources again.

How are we making incidents like this less likely or less impactful?

The team will be adding monitors to identify this type of issue in advance and is also considering additional design changes.
