An Azure Subscription has been orphaned in my service tree, how do I get access to delete/retire?

We inherited an Azure Subscription that doesn't have a valid owner. We've contacted the person who created it 8 years ago, who doesn't have access either... When I go to the Azure Support + Trouble shooting, the subscription never populates in the drop down, so I can't create a ticket... All I'm trying to do is delete the orphaned subscription... Not sure if this is the right forum to post this, but any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Follow https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/role-based-access-control/elevate-access-global-admin?tabs=azure-portal to gain access to the subscription. At that point, you should be able to delete it

If anyone is still searching for an answer that doesn't include becoming a global admin you can use this link to Transfer the subscription to your team/ yourself Inaccessible Subscription Recovery Tool
