Is named pipe protocol mandatory to enable on SQL Configuration manager for SCCM installation?

Hi Team,

We have setup 4 node SQL cluster for HA and trying to install SCCM using it, we came across some issues on Database site and it upon searching more it says Named Pipe protocol should be enabled however there is a security concern at customer side ? Wanted to make sure before we make any changes that is it really necessary. Please suggest.

It is not mandatory to enable the Named Pipe protocol for SCCM installation, but it is recommended. The Named Pipe protocol is used for inter-process communication and can improve performance in certain scenarios.

However, enabling Named Pipes can introduce security risks, as it allows anonymous access to certain named pipes. If security is a concern, it is recommended to consult with the customer's security team before enabling Named Pipes.
