Sudden changes in Azure Arc pricing in April 2024

Hello,

We have enrolled two Windows 2012 standard servers on-premises virtual machines in Azure Arc since November 2023 for extended update support. We have successfully installed updates on both machines every month, and until March, Azure Arc pricing was under control, nearly by $50 per month. However, this April 2024, Azure Arc pricing has increased post-installation of updates. They have charged $237 under Azure Arc.

Can you please give answer on below questions:

  1. Please confirm if there are any sudden changes with Azure Arc pricing?
  2. Is there any update available from Microsoft regarding pricing changes with Azure Arc?
  3. If the cost of Azure Arc has increased for On-Premises Windows 2012 servers, can we migrate those machines to Azure Cloud? Will there be any changes in pricing if the machine is running under Azure Cloud?

@Akshay Naik - Welcome to Microsoft Q&A and thanks for reaching out to us.

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing unexpected pricing changes with Azure Arc. Here are some answers to your questions:

    1. AFAIK there are no changes to Azure Arc pricing.
    2. You can check the [Azure pricing page] for the latest pricing information on Azure Arc. Microsoft may also send notifications to customers regarding pricing changes, so you may want to check your email or Azure portal notifications for any updates.
    3. If you migrate your on-premises Windows 2012 servers to Azure, you may be able to take advantage of pricing. However, the pricing for Azure services can vary depending on the specific service and usage, so it's difficult to say whether the pricing will be lower or higher than what you are currently paying for Azure Arc.

I would advise you to please look at Pricing options, and if that doesn't help, please open a support ticket so our engineer can look and investigate it for you.
