Are SQL updates from ESU available via SCCM like OS (Server 2012 R2) updates are?

Hi

From what I can see, enabling SQL 2012 updates via ARC only gives you the links to then download those SQL updates from Microsoft. You then need to go and install those updates manually or package them into SCCM to then deploy using the application model or a task sequence to control restarts. Whereas the OS (2012 R2) updates are deployed via the normal software update process in SCCM once the Server 2012 R2 instance is enrolled into Arc. Am I correct then that the SQL process and OS updates are different as stated above? And if I missed this in the documentation, a link will be appreciated. Thanks (In both cases above I refer to on premises servers enrolled into Azure Arc)

@Phillip Lötter - Welcome to Microsoft Q&A and thanks for reaching out to us.

ESUs include provision of Security Updates and Bulletins rated critical by the Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC) SQL Server updates marked as Important or Critical are installed through ARC SQL Automated patching. So, in theory, automated patching should install ESUs once purchased.

Hope this helps. and please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
