Azure migrate, VM migration from on-premises to Azure, needs to use the same on-premises IP address in the Azure VM over an Express route connection.

Hi All,

Azure migrate, After migrating the VMs from on-prem to Azure, the client requires the same on-prem IP in Azure due to application dependencies; also, we plan to create an express route connection between on-prem and Azure; is it possible to make this work with the same address space in on-prem and Azure and any workaround for it?

Thanks & Regards,

Veera.

You won't be able to route between two environments without additional provisions if the IP address spaces overlap. There are workarounds, such as https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/manage/windows-admin-center/azure/azure-extended-network but they are not meant to be used on a larger scale, but as exceptions only.
