We currently have all of our workstations with Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 1809 (2019). Our users are receiving error "Classic Teams will soon be unavailable for use. To use the new Teams, update your OS to meet requirements or contact your IT admin" on the Classic Teams and Cloud (M365) policy are not able to install the New Teams. Our current Teams policy is currently set as "Microsoft controlled". In addition, I have also tried manually installing but unsuccessful. I just want to double check Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 1809 (2019) is supported OS or not for New Teams. If it is unsupported OS, what would be best approach to resolve the issue without upgrading OS?

Hi, Microsoft Teams and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 1809 (2019).

    1. Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 1809 (2019) and Microsoft Teams:
      • According to the official Microsoft Teams Hardware Requirements, the new Microsoft Teams Desktop Client is not supported on Windows 10 LTSC 1809 (2019).
      • However, it is supported on other versions of Windows 10, such as:
        • Windows 10 (excluding Windows 10 LTSC for Teams desktop app)
        • Windows 10 on ARM
        • The latest Windows version².
    2. Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 Lifecycle:
      • Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 follows the Fixed Lifecycle Policy.
      • Support dates are shown in the Pacific Time Zone (PT) (Redmond, WA, USA)³.
      • Since LTSC versions do not receive frequent feature updates, the Teams app experience on LTSC might be slightly different from other editions of Windows 10¹.
    3. Best Approach to Resolve the Issue:
      • Given that Windows 10 LTSC 1809 is not officially supported for the new Teams client, here are some steps you can consider:
        • Evaluate the Impact: Assess the impact of not upgrading to a supported version of Windows 10. Consider factors such as security, compatibility, and access to new features.
        • Alternative Communication Tools: While upgrading the OS is the recommended approach, you can explore alternative communication tools that are compatible with Windows 10 LTSC 1809. For example, consider using Slack, Zoom, or other collaboration platforms.
        • Web Version of Teams: Users can access Microsoft Teams via the web version (browser-based) even if the desktop client is not supported. This provides basic functionality for chat, meetings, and collaboration.
        • Communication and Training: Communicate with your users about the limitations of LTSC 1809 and encourage them to use alternative methods or the web version of Teams.
        • Plan for OS Upgrade: Create a plan to upgrade your workstations to a supported version of Windows 10. Consider scheduling the upgrade during a maintenance window to minimize disruption.
    4. Contact Microsoft Support:
      • If you encounter specific challenges during the setup or need further assistance, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support. They can provide guidance tailored to your organization's environment.

Remember that while using the web version of Teams or exploring alternative tools, it's essential to keep your organization's communication needs in mind. Upgrading to a supported OS version remains the most robust long-term solution for a seamless Teams experience. 🚀

    Hi @Pias Zaman

If you upgrade to new Teams client, you should make sure your system OS is Windows 10 version 10.0.19041 or higher (excluding Windows 10 LTSC for Teams desktop app). Users of Windows N SKU need to enable Media Feature Pack for Windows 10/11 N
