Hi Amelia Dwi Indriani I want to help you with this question.

As I understand, your client has an active directory 2012 and wants to put a new active directory role (another server e.g. 2016) next to it. On the new server, the new Entra sync client should be installed because the 1. xx is no longer running and is deprecated. And they want to migrate the MDaemon mailboxes to M365. Am I understanding this correctly?

In short words, it's possible, when the client needs it as I described.

1.) Install the new Windows Server 2016 or you can upgrade 2012 R2 to 2019 with an in-place upgrade directly.

2.) Install the AzureAD role on the new 2016 server and connect it with the ad role of the 2012 server

3.) Install the new Entra connect or sync on the Windows Server 2016 server (I recommend using an additional edge server for the Entra Connect client). You can migrate the config of the old app (Win 2012) if you used the Entra connect already there. But first, stop the replication on the old server and run the wizard on the new server, referring to the old server for settings.

4.) Sync the user to M365 and assign M365 Exchange Online licenses

    1. ) Migrate the MDaemon mailboxes with IMAP batches
