Azure VM Scale Set unhealthy machines with ubuntu 22.04. stuck at "login" step

Hello everybody,

we are using Azure Virtual Machine Scale Sets as our DevOps Agents.
Yesterday in the evening our Scale Sets agents stopped working and I can not find a solution for it.
The problem seems to be that the Virtual Machine or the daemon responsible for login is not able to login and thus no scripts or anything is running. The machine is also responsing as unhealthy but I can myself

This occurred first yesterday and never before. This completely destroyed all of our build pipelines and we can not seem to find a fix for this.

Does anybody else has this problem?
We are running 22.04 Image from Azure Marketplace itself.

Firstly, please confirm if you are able to login to the VM via serial console

If SSH daemon inactive/dead

Check the status of ssh daemon by running the following command systemctl status sshd. If you see that the service is inactive, you can run systemctl start sshd to start the service back again and then try to ssh into the VM. In case serial console is not working, you can check for the status of ssh daemon via Run command from the Portal on the VM blade by running the same commands as I mentioned above.

Also, please share the further details like error image and error logs
