Error when opening a pdf file from a Teams private channel

This is an issue which was reported by a user when trying to open pdf files in a MS teams private channel. The user is attempting to open the file directly from the Teams application itself and chooses the option Open in App. He then gets the following error:

Teams pdf error

The user in question does not wish to sync this content. Office files in this channel do not give this error, only pdf files. There is no issue with the pdf file as we can open the same when moved to another channel.

I've not been able to reproduce this issue in other private channels.

Has anyone else seem anything similar?

    Hi @Alex monteiro

According to our tests, if you open a pdf file in the Teams channel as Open in app, the file will be opened as OneDrive:

The reason you don't have the issue in other channels is that the channel is synced correctly with OneDrive.Files in private channels are saved in a separate file (Files in private channels are saved in a separate Folder (different from standard channels).

Other types of files can be opened directly with apps (Word, Excel, etc.), which is different from PDF files.

So, you need to complete the synchronization to open the PDF file.
