I have a list of folders which contain lists of records. I'd like a table of contents to be on the initial page where the folders are. So, if someone wants to find a folder pertaining to Honda cars, the TOC will tell them what folder it's in. Thanks Debbie

Debbie, there are many (many) ways to achieve this. You should see Quick Links on the homepage of your site (if it's not been designed/customized). This is the simplest way You can add text , links, etc but quick links is likely the simplest The most complicated option is view and grouping of information within the document library/list itself.

This is helpful. In OneNote, I have installed some macros from OneTastic. I can click on a macro to automatically create a table of contents for a section, section group, page, etc. Is there anything like this in Sharepoint? Or will I manually have to update the TOC as content is added to the downstream folders?

How familiar / comfortable are you with Power Automate? You'd create a trigger off of the folder or file level details, then create an action to update a list. That list is yet to be created, so you'd have to decide on how to group content there to make it navigable.

Before going down that path you'll have to consider maintenance and such versus just the effort to update manually. Are there alternative means of achieving this? Could I suggest Teams and channels to break it down?
