We are using

Windows OS --> MS Windows 2022 Base

Office --> MS Office 2021

and disabled windows telemetry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DataCollection\AllowTelemetry to 0)

Also disable application telemetry in the group policy (Turn off application telemetry)

but we do still see files accumulated under C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Local\Temp\Diagnostics\WINWORD

Eventually system is running out of disk space.

    Hi,

Do you want to remove Office files cache?

Or you need to stop saving Office temporary files automatically?

For remove Office files cache, please refer to this support article:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/delete-your-office-document-cache-b1d3765e-d71b-4bb8-99ca-acd22c42995d

If you enable auto-save, this feature will automatically generate temporary files. Temporary files are files that store information such as computing history, cached data, etc., to ensure the security and integrity of the data, as well as to be able to recover unsaved work in the event of an accident.

You can try disabling this feature, go to File- Options- Save- uncheck the AutoSave options:

    Hi,

If you are still expericing the issue, you may check the following methods of resolution. And please make sure to backup the registry before making changes:

    1.Change Office Diagnostics settings:

    • Go to the File tab in any Office program.
    • Click Options.
    • Click Trust Center, then Trust Center Settings, and then Privacy Options.
    • Click View Diagnostic Data -> Disable data viewing.

    2.Change Registry Edits:

    • To disable logging, you can delete specific registry entries. For example, you can use the following commands in the Command Prompt (run as administrator):
reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ClickToRun\OverRide /v PipelineLogging reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ClickToRun\OverRide /v LogLevel

    • After running these commands, restart the Microsoft Office Click-to-Run Service for the changes to take effect.

    3.Support and Recovery Assistant:

    • If you're using the Support and Recovery Assistant, you can create a new registry entry to turn off data collection:
        Subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Support and Recovery Assistant
        Value: 1
