Functions automatically delete when new code is deployed

Hi there,

I've added a function to my Azure Function App using Visual Studio Code, and the deployment runs successfully with no errors. However, when I then deploy new code to my app using GitHub, it automatically deletes my function. I'm not too sure why this would be. Would anyone know why?

@e-lliotk Thanks for reaching out. Can you please elaborate more on "automatically deletes my function". Do you mean that your function app gets deleted or when you deploy the new function/code to your function app then the existing functions in your function app get deleted?

If it is the second case then it's possible that the function you added to your Azure Function App using Visual Studio Code is not being included in your GitHub repository. When you deploy new code to your app using GitHub, it overwrites the contents of that app in Azure. If the function you added is not included in the new code you're deploying, it will be deleted.

If it is the first case then you share more details how the deployment happens. Are there any scripts that makes the ARM/REST management calls?

For me its the second one, the functions in my function App got deleted after deployment.
