Windows server 2008 R2, after closing the firewall, network discovery and sharing will be automatically enabled. After turning off network discovery and sharing again, the firewall will open

May I ask what is the operating logic of the system and how can I turn off the firewall and network discovery and sharing together.

    Hello,

Network Discovery and Sharing are fundamental features in Windows that allow your computer to discover and interact with other devices on the same network. These are controlled by certain services and firewall settings in the operating system that are interconnected.

When you disable the Windows Firewall, it effectively bypasses and disables any rules that would be blocking Network Discovery and file sharing services, hence automatically enabling these features.

Conversely, when you disable Network Discovery and Sharing, Windows will automatically enable the firewall to prevent unauthorized access to your shared resources.

To disable both, you may need to follow the below steps:

Try to disable Network Discovery, disable file sharing, disable windows firewall in Control panel

You also could make sure that there isn’t another program or service changing these settings back after your input. if you have third-party security or firewall software installed.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian
