migrate mailbox from onpremise account to another account on exchange online

Hi,

i have a hybrid deployment and i manage email account for several sister company. the other domain is not trusted with my AD domain and all users email account are on my AD.

Now on my tenant i configured entra cloud sync on one

sister company (for test) to sync their AD users on my tenant.

My question is that. if i sync their user and on onpremise account i set as proxyaddress the email address can i migrate the mailbox connected on account on my AD to this account on exchange online?

so for example the user on my AD is test@mydomain.local and the email is test@mydomain.com, on other AD i the user is test@otherdomain.local and i set proxyaddress test@mydomain.com. Is possible? or i need to create a new mailbox on exchange online and move manually the email?

    Hi @EDP Gerosa ,

    Based on my experience, it is not feasible to migrate the mailboxes of the sister company to Exchange Online via hybrid migration. As you said, you cloud create a new mailbox on exchange online and move manually the email.

    However, you could try to use PST files more efficiently:

    1. You can refer this document to export PST file in your on-premises Exchange server: Procedures for mailbox exports to .pst files in Exchange Server | Microsoft Learn
    2. Then you can follow the steps of this document to import the PST to Exchange Online: Use network upload to import PST files | Microsoft Learn
