Hello, is it possible to exclude a disk from a VM that is already actively replicating with Azure Site Recovery? In my case, from VMware on-prem to Azure. Or is this an option you can only change by starting completely over and replicating the VM from scratch? I do see the exclude disk option when creating the initial repl config.

Regards,
Adam Tyler

Hello @AdamTyler-3590 Thank you for reaching out to us on Microsoft Q&A platform. Happy to help!

From the tile of the post, I understand that you want to know if it is possible to exclude disk which already replicating. Unfortunately, you cannot exclude a disk from a VM that is already actively replicating with Azure Site Recovery. If you want to exclude a disk, you need to disable protection for the VM, exclude the disk, and then enable protection again.

Please note that after you enable replication, you can't add, remove, or exclude disks for replication. If you want to add, remove, or exclude a disk, you need to disable protection for the VM, and then enable it again.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello @AdamTyler-3590 Thank you for reaching out to us on Microsoft Q&A platform.

Yes, it is possible to exclude a disk from a VM that is already actively replicating with Azure Site Recovery. However, you need to disable protection for the VM first, then exclude the disk, and then enable protection again. You cannot add, remove, or exclude disks for replication after you enable replication. If you want to add, remove, or exclude disks, you need to disable protection for the machine and then enable it again. Here are the high-level steps to exclude a disk from replication: 1. Disable protection for the VM. 2. Exclude the disk from replication. 3. Enable protection for the VM. You can find more detailed information on how to exclude disks from replication in the following article: Exclude disks from replication with Azure Site Recovery I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
