Not receiving code on authenticator app

At +/- 19:00 23-4-2024 CET I received a message on my MS authenticator app (on Iphone 14) for approving a login to my work account. The request orginates from Hong Kong. Because this was not me I denied it.
Directly went to my computer to check recent activity but did not see any update. So I decided to update my password just in case. Now the weird thing is, is that my autenticator app does not provide me any codes. Had to use the SMS option to be able to access my account. Why is this is happening?
I checked several forums only telling me to update the app but it is already fully updated on my Iphone. Do I need to worry somebody is trying to breach my account or is their something broken at Microsoft at the moment? Worried that MFA is being breached or not that secure anymore...

The worst thing is - i do not have access to the number associated with the account. The authenticator app not providing any codes. The app is updated. Look forward to seeing an answer on this one.
