I have been running Remote Desktop 10.4.1 on my Macbook Pro for a while with no issues. I am connecting to my office PC (CIsco VPN and then RD to the PC). This weekend, I upgraded to Big Sur. Now, every few minutes the connection freezes for 5-10 seconds. Most of the time it comes back with no visual change Some of the time, I get the gray screen where it says it is reconnecting and then it comes back. This is making work quite challenging.
Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
Reporting issues via app will help to attract attention for the product team and be helpful for them to work on the issue with enough details, thus it will take some time for the team to work it out.

Moreover, please try the beta version which "Addressed some reliability issues identified through crash reporting." which has some new testing features before the official released one.

    Hi,

1.Try following steps: Go to Microsoft Remote Desktop > preferences > General Tab> uncheck “use system proxy configurations “ and
Also uncheck “Use hardware acceleration ”

2.Click Help button on the RDC for mac > Report an Issue for product team to check further.

Hope this helps and please help to accept as Answer if the response is useful.

    Thanks,
    Jenny

I had already tried unchecking Use hardware acceleration. What does the system proxy thing do?

I have the exact same problem (Cisco VPN, same MS remote desktop version). I tried unchecking both boxes with no success. I'm not sure if its an issue between MacOS and Cisco or MacOS and Remote Desktop.

Yeah, I unchecked the system proxy thing and it did not help.
