Attempting to control my Linux PC from iPad using iPad's RD Client app. Things go well (with some issues) when logging into an existing GNOME session, however, opening up a new GNOME session does not work: connection gets stuck at the “Configuring remote PC” stage. (Some background: GNOME 46 has introduced a long overdue feature, whereby one can RDP into a computer that has no GNOME session active.) Any thoughts?

You could inspect the components on your Linux PC that supports a GUI feature; there might be an issue when creating a GUI session. An existing session may not have such a process.

I do not think this has anything to do with the RDP server side of the equation, as you seem to be suggesting, as I can RDP very easily from Remmina, for example, and that works fine. Unfortunately they do not make Remmina for iPad, which is why I am struggling to make the MIcrosoft RDP client work. So far I only know only one RDP client for iPad: feel free to suggest a different client should you know any, and I am willing to give it a try.
