Stuck in a verification loop using Microsoft Authenticator

Hello,

I seem to be stuck in a verification loop when using the Authenticator App.

The App asks me to log in to my account and then asks me to enter the Verification Code from the Authenticator App- which is where I am currently trying to log in from. The only other verification options us the Authenticator App as well so I can't use the 2FA for my account.

I also can't add another Authentication option since doing so requires me to verify using the Authenticator App- which I can't do because I'm not signed in.

Every bit of help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers - Lars

    Hello Lars,

Thank you for reaching out with your issue regarding the Microsoft Authenticator app. I understand that you're stuck in a verification loop, and I'm here to help.

Firstly, let me explain why this might be happening. The Microsoft Authenticator app requires you to sign in to your account to verify your identity, and then it asks for a verification code from the same app. This is a security measure to ensure that only you can access your account, even if someone else has your phone. However, I understand that this can be frustrating if you're stuck in a loop.

To resolve this issue, I recommend the following steps:

    1. Clear the app's cache: Sometimes, clearing the app's cache can resolve the issue. To do this, go to your phone's settings, find the Microsoft Authenticator app, and clear its cache.
    2. Reinstall the app: If clearing the cache doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. This will reset the app's settings and may resolve the issue.
    3. Use a different device: If you have access to another device, try using the Microsoft Authenticator app on that device to generate a verification code.
    4. Contact your administrator: If none of the above steps work, you may need to contact your administrator. They can help you reset your account and bypass the verification loop.

I hope these steps help you resolve your issue. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Best regards,

    Umar
