Why is it that the Neural Form extraction does not support Signature extraction (i.e a true/false idenitification of the presence of a signature) when the Template form does?

    Hi @paul holden,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum!

The reason why the Neural Form extraction does not support Signature extraction is that the Neural Form extraction uses deep learned model type to extract data from forms, while the Template form uses pre-defined templates to extract data.

Template forms use a consistent visual layout to extract data and are intended for use with documents that have a fixed structure, where the location of fields, including signatures, remains constant. This enables the Template form model to recognize and extract signatures based on their specific location within the document.

Neural form models are ideal for handling structured, semi-structured, and unstructured documents with varying layouts. Because signatures can appear in different places and forms, and due to their highly individual nature, it’s more challenging for Neural Form models to accurately identify and extract them.

The signature extraction is a critical requirement, the Template form model would be the appropriate choice.

I hope you understand. Do let us know if you any further queries.
