Trying to connect a university network folder, copying and pasting the network address in my custom network folder on my home pc and it is telling me the folder I entered is not valid when it is identical to the university one.

Hello Sarah,
The home environment might not present the same authentication methods as on-campus systems. You may need to include your domain credentials when attempting to connect. Try prefixing the path with your credentials: \\username:password@servername\foldername
.
Many universities require VPN while on campus, the user is directly connected to the university's network. Check university's guidance on any specific network settings requirements for off-campus access. And home networks typically use public DNS servers that might not resolve internal university network names correctly
Instead of just pasting the address into Explorer, try mapping the network drive. Go to "This PC" > "Map Network Drive" and enter the full path there, with options to reconnect at sign-in and to use different credentials if necessary.
