I have a domain....xxxx.onmicrosoft.com....which is listed as the default domain and fallback domain for my organization's O365, That domain's authoritative server is ns1_208.azure_dns.com and the SOA references onmicrosoft.com

I have 9 mailboxes in the xxxx.onmicrosoft.com domain and they can send/receive email with each other. I have need to do scan-to-email from a copier at my organization so the files are delivered to the xxxx.onmicrosoft.com recipients. This will require that my organization's IP address be added to the SPF record so that the email is recognized as being from a valid sender. The current SPF record only has the standard include:spf.protection.outlook.com ~all string. I need to add an p4:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx to that record but I cannot see any of the DNS records in the O365 admin portal. When I try to add a record, it fails as it indicates the record already exists.

Is it possible to edit this record and if so, how can that be done?

    Yes, it is possible to edit the SPF record for your domain in Office 365, including adding additional IP addresses or mechanisms such as the "p4" mechanism you mentioned. However, modifying DNS records, including SPF records, typically requires administrative access to your domain's DNS settings.

    Here's a general overview of the steps you can take to edit the SPF record for your domain in Office 365:

    Edit SPF Record: Edit the existing SPF record to include the additional IP address or mechanism you need. If you're adding an IP address, you would typically include it within the existing SPF record using the "ip4" mechanism. For example:

    v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com ip4:xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ~all

    Replace "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" with the IP address you want to add.

    Save Changes: After making the necessary modifications to the SPF record, save the changes within your DNS provider's management interface.

    Verify Changes: Once you've saved the changes, it may take some time for the DNS changes to propagate across the internet. You can use online SPF record checking tools to verify that the changes have been applied correctly.
