When I open word, I see the tabs on the ribbon to the left at the top of the screen but all the way to the right I see three items, Comments, Editing (which has a drop down menu containing the following) and share

editing: make any changes, reviewing: suggest changes. viewing: reviewing the file but making no changes.

When would the edit function be used and how would it be activated. I have looked at several tutorials and it is not mentioned.

Thanks

    Hi @Deborah Thomas

Please refer to the blog: Easily switch between editing, reviewing, and viewing documents in Word

The Editing button is used to switch back to normal, not use Reviewing or Viewing mode.

In most cases, you want the Editing mode to be active so that you can make changes as soon as you open your document.

Is this Word on the web or the desktop version? Which operating system are you running?
