Missing SSD option in Boot Manager after changing from Legacy to UEFI boot mode

Hi, my name is Nitish. I have a Lenovo IdeaPad S145-15IKB laptop and recently tried to play Valorant on it. I received an error message that said I needed to enable secure boot. After doing some research on YouTube, I found out that I could fix the problem by changing the boot mode from Legacy to UEFI.

However, after changing the boot mode, I noticed that my SSD option in the Windows Boot Manager section was missing. Only my old HDD was showing up, which I use to store important data. The SSD option only appears when the boot mode is set to Legacy.IMG_20240505_190953

I want to use my Windows 11 on the SSD in UEFI mode without any errors or corruption. Can anyone provide a solution? Please Simplify your answer for better understanding

In the above pictures, my SSD is SMI 2261XT (PartitionType-MBR) and my HDD is WDC WD10-24Z10 (PartitionType-GPT).

Thank you.

    Hi Nitish,

Thank you for posting in the Q&A forum.

Please understand that UEFI requires booting from a GPT disk so you cannot see your SSD which uses MBR in your boot devices. It is recommended to perform a clean install of Windows 11 after changing the boot mode to UEFI so that your SSD will be automatically set to GPT.

Or you can give a try to MBR2GPT to change your disk from MBR to GPT. The tool runs from a Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) command prompt, but can also be run from the full Windows operating system (OS) by using the /allowFullOS option.

Make sure you have backed up your data before doing anything.

    Best Regards,
